Sports Medicine

Sports Medical Consultation, Diagnostics, Therapy

Not only ambitious athletes but especially those who want to start or resume physical activity should seek sports medical advice:

  • Are there health risks associated with my sport?
  • What should I consider from a health perspective in my training?
  • What can I do to achieve my goals healthily?

With a combination of academic and Traditional Chinese Medicine, we can help you better achieve your personal training goals. These methods have long been incorporated into competitive sports.

Prevention: Sports Medical Examination

The foundation of a sports medical examination is a detailed conversation where we assess your sporting ambitions, pre-existing conditions, and physical issues related to sports. This is followed by a thorough physical and technical examination according to the guidelines of the German Society for Sports and Exercise Medicine – German Sports Physicians Association.

Depending on the need, the examination may include:

  • ECG and stress ECG
  • Lung function test
  • Laboratory tests

Based on this, a personalized care plan will be developed for you.

Therapy

The Best of East and West – This is our goal in the care of athletes in our practice. With a combination of modern and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we can help you effectively treat:

  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Typical overuse injuries in athletes, such as shoulder pain or Achilles tendinopathy
  • Susceptibility to infections, allergies, and asthma

From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine, chronic or persistent conditions and overuse injuries are not merely local issues but can stem from a weakening of the overall system. TCM therapy addresses the entire autonomic nervous system and includes the emotional aspects as well. Unlike many other doctors, we offer all methods of Chinese Medicine. In addition to acupuncture, these include Chinese therapeutic massage (Tui Na), breathing and movement exercises (Qi Gong), moxibustion, cupping therapy, herbal medicine (also as topical applications such as ointments and bandages), acute taping, and painless laser acupuncture.

Costs and Coverage

Each sports medical examination will be billed to you privately according to the German Medical Fee Schedule (GOÄ). Some health insurance companies may partially reimburse the costs. Private health insurance generally covers the costs.
