Acupuncture

Lat. acus = Needle, punctio = puncture, Chinese 針砭, Pinyin zhēn biān

Acupuncture is perhaps the oldest and most widespread healing method in the world. By means of targeted needle insertions, it aims to positively influence the body’s energy flow (Qi). The functional state of internal regulatory systems can be affected through reflex points on the skin—acupuncture points. The connection between specific points is referred to as a meridian or pathway.

There are various methods for therapeutically utilizing acupuncture points. The most well-known method involves treating with small, sterile acupuncture needles that are only a fraction of a millimeter thick. Additionally, depending on the indication, points or body areas can also be influenced using heat (moxibustion) or suction (cupping).

In our practice, we also offer a gentle alternative to needle acupuncture. Especially children appreciate laser acupuncture. Besides body acupuncture, there are also so-called microsystems with their own acupuncture points, such as auricular acupuncture and Korean hand acupuncture.

In recent decades, acupuncture has established itself as a highly effective and low-side-effect therapy. Its effects can be scientifically demonstrated. In our practice, we achieve very good results, among other conditions, in migraine, back pain, and knee issues. However, acupuncture can address many more conditions.
