Acupuncture und Moxibustion

Acupuncture and moxibustion are not separated in China, but considered as a unit. They are called "Zhenjiu" in Chinese.

During an acupuncture treatment, anatomically strictly defined places are stimulated with a needle and thus the needle influences autonomic control processes in the body.

Moxibustion refers to the burning of herbs to acupuncture points. Heat is transfered through the needle into deep, otherwise unreachable body layers.

At the beginning of the 21st century, acupuncture has become an incredibly popular medical treatment in the entire world. It has arrived in many treatment guidelines of western specialisits societies, in particular for the treatment of chronic pain, especially migraine, knee and back pain. Other common applications include antenatal, allergies, asthma, gastrointestinal distress, insomnia and numerous other diseases.

During the therapy, up to 20 points are stimulated. A session lasts about 30 minutes. In the case of pain treatment, a relief can often be succeeded within seconds. To obtain lasting effects, 6-12 sessions are usually necessary. For long-lasting problems even more sessions should be allowed.
